If we’re being totally honest, I’ve never really gotten the hang of makeup. Yes, I’ve gone to beauty stores and even corner stores and indulged in the occasional lipstick or eyeshadow, but there was really no rhyme or reason. It was erratic and unplanned and I literally had no clue what I was doing.
Over the past year or so, I’ve actually had a change of heart and have come to love makeup and beauty products. I love watching tutorials on how to contour (although I never get it “quite” right) or scrolling through Pinterest to see if I’m a winter/summer/spring/fall. I’m a summer, by the way.
And as I became more interested, I also started to take a hard look at my makeup bag. What was once filled with vibrant palettes and dewy foundations now felt muted and most importantly dated.
I make a decision to upgrade a few things in my bag, not only for my skin’s health but my sanity.
And good thing I decided to. Did you know that we should be replacing certain items in our makeup bags every few months?
Every item in your makeup bag has an expiration date, whether it is foundation at two years or mascara at six months. Many don’t realize there are expiration dates on makeup products and have foundation or mascara that should be immediately replaced with new products to prevent bacteria growth. YIKES.
If that’s not enough for you to leap out of your chair and refresh your makeup bag, I don’t know what will.
