When I go on dates, people usually ask "So, what do you like to do?" Well, for me it's pretty simple. I love to eat. And I love to drink a good cocktail (Or beer. Or wine. Okay, so alcohol). Oh, and exploring. But in a city where there's new things popping up left and right, it's a bit easy to get overwhelmed. So, in an effort to combat that, I'm sharing four of my favorite things as of late.
The Treasury
Last week, I got done with a movie in the Financial District and wanted to grab a little cocktail. It was around 9:30/10 p.m. and for the most part, the FiDi was dead. Scratching my head trying to find a place, I remember seeing something about The Treasury opening! Formerly the home of the original Standard Oil Company, the space is regal yet modern. Dimly lit and dare I say fairly sexy, I was pleasantly surprised with the drinks I sipped. If you're going, I definitely suggest Pinkerton and Double Trouble.
ANINA
Surprisingly, San Francisco doesn't have that many outdoor bars. Maybe it's the fickle weather, but when it's hawt and I don't feel like fighting the crowds at Dolores Park, I want an alternative. Luckily, this is where Anina comes in. This little spot used to be Flippers (RIP), but I have to admit – I'm happy with the result. Bright, airy and oh so colorful, Anina is the perfect place to down a cocktail or two to celebrate the weekend. Get there early because this spot is catching on and their patio closes at 10 p.m. Oh, and as for the cocktails – the Fairway is out of this world.
PYTHAGORAS PIZZA
I love pizza. And I think pizza loves me. Also, getting quick and delicious pizza is a bit challenging in this city. For the goods, you gotta wait. Well, until Pythagoras. Combining design and a passion for 'za, the duo behind this app have got it right. Handmade in the Mission and delivered in 15 minutes? What's not to love? Oh, and your first Pi is on them. :)
VERVE COFFEE
I've always loved coffee. So, it's no surprise that I was super stoked about Verve Coffee opening up a location in SF. Even more exciting is that I moved a block away from the baby. And while the prices are steep (a little coffee joke for y'all), it's well worth it. The atmosphere is hip even though it's a bit small of a space to do work. Come here early, avoid the lines, and snag a seat in one of their little nooks – you'll be happy you did.
