Hi Everyone!
Happy Wednesday! Living in San Francisco, I've been exposed to some amazing food. Clam chowder from Pier 39, the infamous hipster avocado toast, In-n-Out burgers (for real, though) , and the ever so popular acai bowls.
So, what I'm saying is that food in this city is great. We're pretty spoiled and if you live here, you know what I'm talking about. If you don't...get your ass here, call me up and we'll go down the SF foodie list.
Our first stop when you do? Mason Pacific. Last Friday I had the opportunity to experience a truly one-of-a-kind dining experience at this newly reopened Nob Hill staple. To set the scene, I just got off from a chaotic work day, feeling a little worn down and ready to unwind.
Upon walking into Mason Pacific, I felt at ease with their comfortable yet sophisticated decor (hearty wooden tables and marbled bar counter) and was greeted with such kindness it was almost surprising. Totally needed.
Since we both had a pretty wild week, we celebrated the beginning of the weekend with sparkling champagne and a beautiful scallop crudo. The blend of avocados, scallops and sesame seeds (my favorite!) was unexpected, delicious and beautiful. I mean, look at that vibrant green color!
If you're a fan of veggies, Mason Pacific has a ton of options with a twist. And that's the beauty of this restaurant – seasonal dishes with an elevated touch. All done by the genius that is Chef Max Mackinnon.
My favorite vegetable dishes were the summer corn combined with squid and celery and the carrot, curry, mussel and coriander dish. So refreshing and not pretentious at all. Just how I like it.
I also sampled the poached trout and braised lamb to get a feel for how Mason Pacific does land and sea. If you're a meat eater, that braised lamb should be a no brainer. It had flowering broccoli to accompany the dish and really melted in your mouth. Yesssss.
Finished off the delicious meal trying the lemon curd and I legitimately ate all of it. I don't even normally have a sweet tooth. So, Mason Pacific – you're doing something right.
We ended the evening satisfied and happy. If you get a chance to explore Nob Hill, make a beeline to Mason Pacific.
Go for the food, stay for the service. I promise you'll be blown away by both.
Cheers!
