A few weeks ago, I woke up with the sun to meet the talented and amazing Emma Wyatt for a photoshoot at one of my favorite locations β Sutro Baths. Before the shoot, she asked me to do something a little different. That difference being wearing a bathing suit.
Now, I've never posted pictures of myself with a swimsuit on β especially not wearing a bikini. But, this shoot felt a little different. In fact, I felt a little different. I met Emma around 7 a.m. on Saturday with the sun just about to rise and decided to just say, "fuck it."
I said screw the insecurity and stress on whether I looked "weird" or "lumpy." Rather, I embraced the unfamiliar (and the cold!) and shot for an hour or two and connected with Emma and the ocean. It was the perfect way to start a Saturday.
This shoot was a great reminder that we're all so hard on ourselves. I constantly hear people being so mean to themselves when they would never be that mean to any of their friends and family. We must embrace self-compassion and be kind to ourselves.
What do ya say? You with me?
