Hi Everyone!
Happy Wednesday! Being a content creator, I'm constantly trying to figure out how to maximize the various platforms both personally and professionally. So today, I'm sharing my first out of a three part series on creating beautiful content for bloggers! And first up? My favorite (and I think most unique) platform, Pinterest!
Previously to working at Pinterest, I loved the platform but found it challenging to create beautiful, actionable content on my own. Fast forward two years later and I’ve made countless Pins for hundreds of brands. From working on the Pin Factory where I actually concepted, designed and produced Pins helping new advertisers get started with their first Promoted Pins to being a Creative Strategist and inspiring Partners with big ideas, it’s been a wild and fun ride.
One of the most frequent questions I get is how to create for Pinterest. And while I’m separating this from my day job, it definitely is super applicable to bloggers and creatives.
I’m only going to scratch the surface, but here’s a few things to keep in mind whether you’re a Pinning pro or novice.
Size: Pinterest’s preferred image aspect ratio is 2:3. I always recommend creating a Pin using the measurement of 600 pixels by 900 pixels. Keeping this in mind will maintain the quality of the Pin. It also helps people look at your Pin (or idea) in-feed!
Text Overlay: As a blogger I have a ton of outfit photos. And while they are great on Pinterest already, sometimes they can be up leveled by a few small touches. Adding text overlay on the image gives your Pin (or image) context! Sporting a certain trend? Include it! Showing a date night makeup look? Include text overlay on what products you’re using! Some of my favorite examples of text overlay can be seen here. And don’t have Photoshop? No fear, Canva is here! They have awesome templates that you can use for free!
Novel ideas: Pins are all ideas! Make the Pins you create actionable, helpful and beautiful! Whether it’s inspiring someone with an ootd or how to make a certain recipe, Pins that make you actually want to “do the thing” perform the best!
Hopefully this is a bit helpful, but if you’re looking for more ideas on how to uplevel your Pins, look no further!
