Long Weekend Relaxation

YOU GUYS. This week has been a doozy. A doozy in a totally awesome, crazy, exciting way. I’ve been traveling for work this week and last night, I got back to SFO around 7 p.m. and was on a flight to Vancouver at 8:00 p.m.

A little wild, but I’m embracing this reality and enjoying the process. That being said, I’m in Vancouver for the 4th of July weekend visiting my bestie Courtney and what makes it even sweeter is that my entire SF gang is coming, too!

I can’t wait to unplug, lounge, and enjoy one of the coolest cities. And, while I have a bit of a challenge totally disconnecting, I’m excited to have some close and personal time with the people I love most.

I don’t know about y’all, but unplugging can be really freakin’ hard – especially in this day and age. We look and use our phones for everything. From finding directions to simply checking the time, we default to this little thing in our pockets. And don’t get me wrong, I love technology. Hell, I even work for a company that’s founded in technology. But what I love even more, is getting offline and actually doing something. Luckily, that’s the mission of Pinterest, too.

So, that being said, I’m going to share a few things that help me relax – big and small. Think of this like a Thankful Thursday list but on a Friday and not really a thankful list. More like a relaxation reminder. Sounds nice, yeah?

1.  Yoga: Recently, this has been my saving grace. I often schedule these classes way too early, but after I always leave feeling refreshed and super happy I showed up. My favorite studios are definitely Ritual, Love Story, and The Pad.

2. Alone time: This is kind of a weird one and definitely not one that I would have added a few years ago. Side note: Does this mean I’m growing up? Regardless, I’ve really appreciated alone time as of late. One of my favorite activities is grabbing magazines, newspapers, etc. and heading to a coffee shop like Peet’s and casually having a morning.

3. Massage/Facial/etc.: Some say basic, but I say self-care. And for that, I’m not going to apologize. There’s something so relaxing and awesome putting yourself in the hands of a trained profession and getting a service done. Whether that’s a massage, a facial, getting your nails done (holla Diane’s!), whatever – it’s a nice feeling. And honestly, have you done something nice for yourself lately?

4. Friend time: Kind of the opposite of alone time, but another way I like to relax and recharge is with my friends. Cue this weekend. I’ve become a lot more selective on the people who I choose to spend quality time with and I think this leads to more rich, substantial relationships. And of course, since I’m a Cancer and crave connection, this is the ultimate way for me to relax and enjoy.

So, what about y’all? What are some of the ways you like to relax?

In the meantime, I’ll be postin’ up with Justin Trudeau and saying “aboot” way too much.

Cheers!
